Overwatch Feature Analyst for ArcGIS, developed by Overwatch Systems, Ltd., is an ArcGIS Desktop extension that automates the extraction of natural and man-made features from satellite and aerial imagery. Working directly inside the ArcGIS environment, it allows analysts to train extraction models by example, run automated classification, and export clean vector layers to geodatabases. The result is faster map production and update cycles with reduced manual digitizing and full analyst control over training, parameters, and post-processing.

Key capabilities:

  • Automated feature extraction from panchromatic and multispectral imagery for classes such as roads, buildings, water, and vegetation
  • Train-by-example workflows to create reusable models tailored to local conditions and sensors
  • Seamless ArcGIS integration with support for geodatabases, projections, layers, and standard editing tools
  • Batch processing to apply trained models across multiple scenes for large-area production
  • Quality control and refinement tools for review, cleanup, and conflation with existing GIS data
  • Broad compatibility with common satellite and aerial image formats
  • Output as attributed vector features ready for analysis and cartography

Typical uses include base-map creation and update, infrastructure and transportation mapping, land-use/land-cover projects, environmental monitoring, emergency response planning, and defense and intelligence imagery analysis.
